People who are proponents of detox dieting believe that the body is being contaminated by substances and chemicals taken in. Everything from cigarette smoke, processed foods, caffeine and alcohol can be considered toxic to the body. Through detox methods the body will be cleansed of all these possible harmful substances and then the body will be able to use the foods in the diet to achieve a balance where weight loss is easily achieved. It is true that with almost all detox diets a person will see a sudden loss of weight because of the food restrictions. This weight loss may be a great boost to the bigger weight loss goals.
